Summer and Fall 2014 Wedding Trends

Of course, trends run their course and then fade away, only to be revived some number of years later. Wedding trends are really no different with their cycles. I'm going to look at 5 of the wedding trends for Summer/Fall 2014, and what they have in store for us.
Let's hope this trend is one that never again makes it around to be a current trend...

Wedding Trend #1: Burlap & Lace

The burlap and lace wedding trend is one we just can't get enough of. It's vintage/rustic vibe is just romantic enough without being overly feminine. The balance of the rough burlap against a variety of seductive lace brings the perfect vibe to any bride's wedding.

Wedding Trend #2: Bright Colors

With burlap and lace giving brides a classy balance of country and chic, it goes without saying that vintage elegance is in. One of the new fun trends for the coming wedding season is a pop of bright color. Having bright pink and red flowers against a monochromatic scheme, or a deep royal blue paired with burlap and lace gives your wedding the pizzazz to bring a flash of fun and delight to your guests.

Wedding Trend #3: Romance

Whether the romance is gushing over in elegant and tall centerpieces, or in simple centerpieces with a touch of personalization and a ton of romance, one thing is for sure. This is one trend we love, and can't get enough of. Weddings are regaining their footing as overly romantic and more formal affairs, that make us reminisce of fireflies and warm summer nights, just as they should. Weddings are to celebrate the love of 2 people, and it's such a nice touch to see every element woven so deeply with this trend.

Wedding Trend #4: Groom Personalization

With the attention of weddings being placed back on romance, that's not to say that there isn't room for individuality for the groom and his groomsmen. In fact, now more than ever the guys are getting a bigger say in what they want for their "team." From dressed down groomsmen in sweater vests or jeans, to fedora hats and superhero shirts under their formal attire, groomsmen are embracing their new found freedom from traditional men's wedding trends, and making a splash that we just can't get enough of. Men are coming up more and more clever ways to add their own unique twist to the wedding, and it couldn't be more exciting!

Wedding Trend # 5: Personalized Favors

It used to be that bubbles were the surefire way to go when picking out wedding favors. And sure, they're fun to blow at the reception, to see the bride and groom off, but favors can be so much more. With sites like Etsy providing couples unique and new opportunities for their favors, the advent of Pinterest, and the drive of more and more brides to DIY more of their wedding, the sky is the limit. Little trees, pots of honey, succulents, and wedding location specific favors (like maple syrup!) are all super fun ways to thank your guests for sharing in your wedding day.

Bonus Wedding Trend-Hot Off The Press: After Parties

Couples these days don't want to rush off to their honeymoon that night, along with modern weddings comes a modern new way to keep the party going. Plan an after party to keep the fun going late into the night. Added bonus? Those that prefer to leave earlier in the night don't feel guilty about leaving when the reception is over, and those college buddies of your groom that have traveled far to come to the wedding don't feel let down about the party ending before it really gets going. Take the momentum to a local bar or borrow someone's backyard. Be sure to plan midnight snacks, and more drinks for the after party, you're guests are bound to get hungry after all that dancing they'll be doing (not to mention how hungry you'll be)!
